I'm not sure of the extent of Rainier Management's suckiness, but I'll agree that there is definitely room for improvement.
(For anyone who doesn't know, there is one complex called The Marks and another across the street called Embers - the units in one complex are different from those in the other complex)
I live in Embers Apartments. It's a 1/1. I think it's 550 square feet. It's really not a bad size at all. It's bland, but it's worked for me through the school year so far.
The biggest problem for me is that I didn't realize how inconvenient it would be to not have a garbage disposal. My dishwasher is directly under my sink. It makes both of them kind of oddly shaped/shallow and it blocks the spot where the garbage disposal would go. In the walk-through I thought it wouldn't be too big of a hassle. I was way wrong. I've decided that the garbage disposal is probably the single most convenient appliance in existence.
Also, Rainier Management sucks. When I moved in, I didn't have a screen on one of my windows. It was annoying, but I amazingly lucked out by having the only apartment with a screen door. Fair trade. But then they sent a maintenance guy to take my screen door from me because I was the only person who had one. Did they bring me the screen for my window that I had requested in the beginning of the fall semester' Not at all. I still don't know how the hell they failed to fill that request. It's not like there was intense labor to be done. All they had to do was find a screen. Oh well.
The first time it took management to respond to a maintenance request, they apologized for it taking so long and told me that they had just hired more maintenance staff. Well, since then they haven't answered any of my requests and they took my screen door. So maybe they still don't have enough maintenance guys. If that's the case, they should get rid of the apartments and let another company take over that can adequately fulfill the responsibilities that are required of an apartment management company.
I wouldn't recommend this place simply because management is so bad and the lack of a garbage disposal sucks. If I had had serious problems with my place, I'd hate to have to trust management to fix it in a timely manner.
