One Word.....GHETTO!

The only reasons I moved there was that rent was cheap, it was very close to my job (I'm not a morning person) and it was about the only cheap place I could find that offered cable tv for free.
I lived there for nearly five years. And I've had many a bad experience there. My toilet broke several times, it took the maintaince crew four days to come and fix it. I've gotten several eviction notices when I had paid my rent a few days early and right on time. My ceiling began to leak with every hard rain especially disappointing that it happened on my b-day. I called the office and the sent someone to fix it. I found out during the next leak that they didn't fix it...they just painted over the wet area. There was a big yellow stain that wouldn't go away. When the ceiling started to leak again, it was so heavy that I only had a small wastebasket to catch the steady flow of water. I called the office again and they told me that they'd come and give me another larger bucket. I eventually had to call the Tenants Association on them...they finally fixed it promptly and properly. the Office also lost a Chrismas package that was delivered there for me. It was finally found six months later and sent to me.
Also, the night life in the neighborhood is totally ghetto...we have prostitutes and drug dealers that run amuk at night. In the daytime, They break into houses/apts, steal stuff, go to the pawn shop down the road, sell the stolen goods, go across the street from there and buy their drugs or crack pipes.
And I can't believe I forgot that my car was broken into and the steering column was busted as was my window. I guess they couldn't get my car to start or they were scared off.
So many other reasons not to live there but I admit I loved my floorplan and the cost of my rent. I have since moved to Northwest Austin in a lovely non-ghetto area. I am happy that I'm out of that scary neighborhood. I too have hear about the severed hand in the laundry room. I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.
