We lived here while building our home. The management is basically non-existant. We had issues with the carpet (filthy and torn) when we moved in. Dishwasher was leaking, damage to walls in stairwell, blinds bent. In spite of our attempts to have these repaired and the fact that these were listed on our papers at move in, the management kept our deposit and tried to charge us upon move out for these items. They did not care AT ALL that the problems were there when we moved in and that the problems were NEVER taken care of. My husband refused to pay the additional charges for issues that we did not cause and were forced to live with while residents. The holding company reported this to the credit agencies and agressively called our home & friends for a year or more. Renters BEWARE!!!!!!These people are scam artists!! Our story also happened to almost everyone who lived at the Marquis while we were there! At some point, renters need to be protected from scamming landlords. My husband is working with his contacts in an effort to initiate renters protection. We had no idea that these things could happen. The holding company for The Marquis is taking advantage of the lack of protection for renters. I spoke with a prior employee of The Marquis who told me that the way we were treated is actually part of employee training, ie: the renter is always wrong & always find a reason at the end of the lease to keep the deposit and add on additional charges. We also found out that the bullies who were calling us and being so abusive after we moved out actually are employees of the holding company! For the record: we never missed or were late with our monthly rent, we took care of the substandard apartment we were in, and when we moved in the carpet was dirty and torn, walls had damage, the blinds were bent and the dishwasher leaked. We have complained to BBB.
