I moved into GHV four years ago and thought it was a beautiful, spacious apartment with attractive, well maintained grounds and a friendly staff. My opinion changed after the property was sold to Lincoln Property. The apartment is still beautiful, the grounds attractive, but service has steadily declined.

One example: Before I leased my apartment, the front door jam had a crack that was repaired and repainted. Earlier this year, the crack "re-split", causing problems with the lock. After a couple of attempts by GHV maintenace to repair it, the door jam was replaced. However, the maintenance supervisor informed me that it "looked like someone kicked in your door so you may have to pay for this repair". Of course, his opinion was totally unfounded and I did not pay for the repair. But his suggestion was insulting.

I could go on .... a chronic ant problem that stems from a nest outside one of my window that they can't seem to resolve, bent mini-blinds that I've asked to be replaced but been ignored, and scheduled maintenance appointments that are not kept.

So, bottom line ... what once was a lovely apartment complex with the latest and greatest ammenities, is now faded, dated and not worth the money. Both the complex and the staff need a major overhaul. They can not justify the prices just because they USED to be a premier property in the Arboretum area.

Oh .. instead of the property manager defending the staff (see her posting), she should have apologized and worked on finding solutions. Even if she doesn't think all the accusations are justifiable, it's better business to go with "the customer's always right". That way, GHV might keep more apartments leased long-term.
