I lived at the property for over 3 years and I just wanted to expel some of the comments made by the previous review. First, these apartments were not cheaply constructed. In fact during the recent sale of the property 3 different appraisers commented that the contruction was so well done that they did not believe that the property could be rebuilt using the same quality materials for even close to what it actually sold for. This complex was built to condo specs which means extra insulation is the walls and floors and 3 inches of concrete between the floors.
Second, although they were built with quality construction, I will agree that the apartments could use a face lift - the interiors still have the original touches - formika countertops, white appliances and brass fixtures for the most part. But the new management company is currently doing an upgrade to stainless appliances, granite countertops and nickel fixtures if I am not mistaken.
Third, this is a minute point but...the breakfast that is handed out at the front gate is not an obligation handed down from corporate. That is something that onsite management chooses to do for its residents. And yes the newsletter is clearly a template but it is created onsite and therefore what goes in it is again the choice of the onsite management.

If you are thinking of living at great hills do not be turned off by these reviews. No management company is perfect and yes mistakes happen but over all living at Great Hills was really great. The grounds are beautiful and the location of this complex is wondeful. For the most part all the residents are very nice and very considerate of their neighbors. The parking situation could be better but it is adequate - not the nightmare everyone is making it out to be.

The new management company is very nice and from what I saw is very qualified. I am confident that they will do a good job. The truth is that for the most part - in my experience, most of these negative reviews are written by a resident that came into the office with a ridiculous, selfish complaint or request and did not get an answer they liked. Do not let a handful of disgruntled residents ruin your chance to live here.

I wonder which trailer park they had to drag a dollar bill through to get that writer. I don't think I've ever read a more ignorant rave in my life. I'll bet they paid that writer plenty to ramble and blabber on that corrupt, crime-ridden apartment complex. No mention of the vandalism, noise, drug dealers or illegals living there. No mention of the gate that was always broken. No mention of the filthy car-washing area. No mention of the drunks at the pool, and the children peeing in the pool. The apartment complex has to pay the Austin police officers to live in that rat-infested place.

This complex WAS NOT built to condo specs. I asked when I moved in and they said NO. I believe the Marquis at Caprock Canyon may be.

It is NOT built to condo specs. I was told that, but from the noise I experience, this is obviously a lie.

I'm not sure why they keep plugging condo specs but I can guarantee you they are not built to condo specs. I currently live on the first floor of this apartment and can hear every single step & closed door my upstairs neighbor makes. The staff here is friendly and overall the complex is nice, however, the insulation between floors is terrible.
