I was so excited when I moved into my new apartment at the Mansions. It seemed like it would be a great place to live and I went in very optimistic about my new 'home'. My first night there, after unpacking all day and being totally exhausted, I crawled into bed and about 30 seconds later the battery for the smoke alarm in my bedroom died and that annoying beeping started up. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't put new batteries in before someone new movied in. I had to get out of bed, aching back and all, and go and buy a new battery. That first night was a great indicator of how the rest of my time at the mansions would turn out. Horribly Disappointing!!
I tried explaining to the lady who suckered me into signing a lease that I am a very quite person and that I need to live in a place that is peaceful and relaxing. Of course she lied and gave me the whole spill about the walls being sound proof and insulated and how they didn't have problems with noise, etc. She then said, if I did have problems with noise all I would have to do is let them know and they would take care of it. All of that was a lie. A big, fat, horribly cruel lie!!! Not only were my upstairs neighbors obnoxiously loud and rude, but when I tried complaining, I got an attitude from the property manager who tried to make it seem like this was somehow my fault. I thought, you have got to be kidding! There seemed to be a family of pogo stick jumpers living above me. For the longest time I just couldn't understand how anyone could make so much noise. Then I saw it, about 3 kids going into the apartment above me wearing SKATES, running up the stairs in SKATES. Running around upstairs in SKATES.
So, finally my lease comes up and I am so excited about moving out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot, I knew with all the complaints I made about my neighbors that they weren't going to make this move easy for me. But, I thought, I gave them a $600 pet deposit ( I have a cat ) plus the regular deposit...they'll probably just not give any of it back. Oh no, not only did they not give any of it back, but they charged me an extra $300 dollars for 'carpet replacement'. This, after my deposits AND the prorated rent amount for the rest of the month were calculated in. My cat did not do anything that would have required this. I have NEVER had to pay any money after moving out of any other apartment. In fact, I've always gotten at least a couple hundred dollars of my deposit back.
Please keep all of this in mind before signing a lease with these criminals! Just don't do it! The 'pretty' exterior does not make up for the hell that they will put you through.
