UPDATE: As of today, 24 Jun, I have not received my deposit back. The property will not return my calls nor will the corporate office. I moved out 28 April. It is WAY past the 30 days they are required by law to return my deposit. According to TX law, I can get 3x my deposit in small claims court. A little bit of a hassle, but might be worth it to prove to these people they can't take advantage of me and hope I'll give up. If you deal with Natalie at the property, don't trust her, she makes false promises!

I just moved out of MCC. I couldn't move out quick enough. When we first moved in it was very nice and really like it there. I even thought I might renew my lease at the end of my first contract. But over the year things got progressively worse. Maintenance quality is lacking. The cheap grout they use on the tile floors constantly cracks and you constantly are stepping loose pieces of grout. It looks real bad as well. I had constant problems with the batteries going out on my smoke detectors. Since this is considered a low priority, you end up having to sleep through the beaps all night. (taking the battery out doesn't work). The pool in the summer time is not cleaned on the weekends, which is the high use time. If it rains, you are swimming through worms and mulch. The many of the residents there are horrible about picking up dog poop. Since there are so few areas for pets to go, it piles up quick. May foyer at the front door constantly smelled of pet pee and poop because the door didn't seal very well and the pet area was just outside my door. It got really bad after it rained. The management does nothing to residents for lease violations such as parking, pets left on porches all day/night, washing cars, etc. I don't expect them to walk the property ALL the time looking for this stuff, but I can't believe the number of times they drive through property they can't see this stuff. Especially the car washing. The "water leak" has been going on since July 07 and is still not resolved. For two people, we were paying $60 dollars a month. I never paid over $20 in my last apartment. I don't think you will ever get a look at the water bill from the complex. They will blow you off about showing you how the bills are distributed. This is against the law.
Also, they don't care what type of residents move in there. There has been a significant decline in the quality of residents. I know that they cannot discriminate in leasing, I get it, but some the of these folks I wonder how they even passed through the credit check given their lack of living standards. We also had some kids dealing drugs across from me. Management did nothing about. They lied to me about kicking them out. I can't stand liars. On top of it, the people that moved in next to me regularly smoked pot on the porch. I have a small child so you can imagine out this disturbed me. Just like everyone else has said, going up to office, the staff act like you are interupting them and your request is an inconvenience. I didn't get a copy either of my lease contract when I moved in. It took 3 requests during the first month to get it. And then, I only got the main contract, not any addendums. They don't remove advertisements or other stuff from vacant apartment doors. It is very obvious which apartments are vacant. This was a safety concern for me. Fewer residents, fewer eyes. I just moved out, but I am waiting to do a walk thru. I don't trust these people to do a walk thru with out me. We'll see how that works out.
The apartments are nice, but is not worth the hassle of dealing with management and getting raped on charges, poor residents and poor maintenance. Plus, the increase in traffic on 620 is making it worse to commute. My other concern was Concordia College opening up in Fall 08 creating an increase in college kids living there.

I can relate to all your concerns and problems at Mansions,Monterone at Canyon Creek. I was a resident there for two years. Each month I lived there the conditions worsened. During that time I even took my complaints to the Tenants Counsil as well as both property owners. Never was there ever a concern addressed and corrected. The mold in my apartment made for unhealty living conditions. That determination was made at my expence. I hired a state licensed mold inspector. Upon his findings, I finally served them notice and moved out a month before my last expiration. Like you, I did not trust them not to do a walk through. They acted like I was committing a crime. All of the complaint you have ledged, I saw to. It should be unlawful for them to be able to conduct business in the manor they do.They did nothing as promised in the initial agreement. The women in the office have the worst character, integrity and work ethics that I have ever experienced. It will only be when a group of residents, past and present, ban together and file complaints with the state. And also create enough media coverage that they have to follow the laws. If you should decide to pursue this please let me know. I come forth and do whatever I can to help. To prevent future tenants from having the same sub standard living conditions. Children deserve better than that. Little kids that live there are in constant danger of the drugs, traffic and filth that exist there. I hope you have found better living conditions. There is quality life and living conditions after Monterone at Canyon Creek!!
