Feels like home

Years at this apartment: 1990 - 2004
I have lived at Northcastle since June, 1990, and my wife and I together since December, 2000.
I chose Northcastle in the beginning over other apartments in the area because having been built earlier, the apartments were generally bigger than apartments built later, so there was more square feet per rent dollar. I liked the quietness of the courtyard area near my unit and the big, old oak tree in the middle of the lawn in that part. I was still going to UT at the time and I could take the UT shuttle bus off Far West, and not have to drive in to campus. There is also a nice new HEB, Post Office, Eckerds/CVS, Wendy's, Chevron, Lamb's Tire, Blockbuster, and other shops and restaurants nearby on Far West, and a little convenience store you can get to without having to go out on any big streets. It is also really convenient for getting onto Mopac and 183, or Anderson/Spicewood.
The staff have always come through for us and done what they could to take care of the little things that will break down or need some kind of repair, and I never had to have them come out and fix the same thing twice. The office staff have always been reasonable with the rent when it came time to renew, and have helped us with a lot of things. Maintenance staff have usually lived on property so that is convenient for after hours emergencies and lock-outs.
There are two pools, a big one, and a smaller, quieter one near the old, big tree in that lawned area. The big one is by one of the laundry areas and a workout room (key access). There is also a clubhouse available for use, (I think a local Linux Users Group meets there on Wednesday night, so if you're a Tux fan...).
It's not the newest, fanciest place, but it had everything I needed, and has been mostly quiet over the years. I wasn't looking for the newest and fanciest. I didn't need my apartment office to entertain me, I just needed a nice affordable place that was big enough, with some amenities, at a good price that was conveniently located, and this felt like home, and has been warm, comfortable, and convenient over the years. It has felt more like a home than an apartment. Have had lots of good neighbors over the years, of all ages and types - families, students, "little old ladies" with lots of plants, and all have been cool.
My deposit includes a pet deposit, if this is listed.
