Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004
My roommate and I were initially thrilled with our spacious, two-bedroom apartment. That didn't last.
Our water was routinely shut off for hours during the day because any time a repair had to be made to one of the apartment's pipes, they had to turn off the water to the entire complex. Several cars were broken into while I lived there and I once had to phone Austin police about a prowler I spotted casing cars in the parking lot at 2 am. We never got the gutter fixed that gushed a waterfall on our landing every time it rained, despite requesting that it be fixed repeatedly, over several years and through several management regimes.
On-site managers never stick around for long at Northcastle and maintenance rarely improves anything if they come at all. They never fixed my rommate's perpetually running toilet. We had a water leak in our living room ceiling that was so bad that the plaster was bulging ominously as if the sheetrock were about to collapse, but we couldn't get it fixed for months. It took a fax to MBS headquarters in Metairie, LA to finally get some results.
Beware the apartment complex with headquarters out of state! When we moved out, on-site management was thrilled with the condition of our apartment. He said it was so clean that he could rent it as is. He submitted the request for a refund of our full deposit to HQ in Louisiana.
Four months later...
Although MBS agreed that they owed us a full refund of our deposit, THEY WOULD NOT SEND IT TO US! That's actually illegal. It took us filing a complaint about MBS with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office to get our deposit check sent to us.
