Looking Good So Far!

I have only been here for 3 months and I see all of the negative reviews so some people may not believe me or think I am an office staff member (I am not, I'm a resident). So far, things have been great. They have been doing so much to improve the complex that the question is "What aren't they doing'" About the only thing they are not doing is tearing the buildings down and rebuilding, but they might as well be. We looked at the apartment in late March/ early April and I guess in that time another company took over. But it looks like this company is here to stay with all of the work they are putting in. The new company is Riverstone. Also, I believe that they changed the name of the complex from Northcastle to Terracina because they just put up a banner two days ago. As far as improvements, every complex has had a new air conditioner installed or is going to with a digital thermostat that automatically shuts off when it cools to the preset temperature. Both of the pools have been cleaned, are being maintained, and constantly have people swimming in them. They are tearing down the outer perimeter wall and replacing it with metal bars. They are literally going to each apartment and taking out refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, toilets, doors, carpet, and anything else and replacing them with ones that work (there is a large Waste Management bin at the back of the complex where they are putting all of these things if you don't believe me). It looks like they are trying to get every apartment suitable for residents. The front office has been remodeled. They are constantly working on the plumbing and we have had no issues with that. They were turning off the water pretty regularly when we first moved in from about 10:00-2:00 but that has gone down to maybe once a week because it is working. The main laundry facility is working and has been cleaned. If a machine or dryer is broken, I have called the company number and it is fixed by the next time I do laundry. They just installed new barbecues. They are digging up the grass area I would assume to put in new grass (they just started yesterday and haven't completed). They took out a gravel flooring of the picnic area and replaced it with clay tiles. They are starting to paint the outside of the buildings.
We live in a 2-bedroom apartment with 1,314 square feet and only pay $809 a month for rent. We just came from California and were paying almost $1,100 for a less than 900 square feet apartment. My parents actually said their first house was smaller square footage wise than our apartment. Our apartment was freshly painted and the carpets were shampooed and cleaned. We had a few things that needed to be fixed upon inspection of the apartment and the maintenance guy came the next day. We've only had two maintenance issues (one was just mentioned) and both times the guy was there within 24 hours. The office staff is really nice and there is usually two people in there all the time. The only complaint I have is there is no covered parking, so when we get bad hailstorms your car may have dents just like mine does. But that's okay, my car is still driveable. And with all of the improvements they are making, covered parking in the future wouldn't surprise me. I just hope things continue to go this well.
