If you move in to this complex it's your Own fault. You have been warned. I lived there for nearly 3 years and the Only reason I stayed was because of the price. They've raised the price and it's not worth the money. I feel qualified to shed some light on the atrocities of this place. Terracina, Northcastle, whatever they want to call it, the place just needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
1. I had a 'leak'. When it rained the master and 2nd bedrooms' windows turned into waterfalls. I'm not exaggerating. I ran out of towels (I used 6 bath-sized, 10 hand towels and 15 rags) and lost my mattress in the process of attempting to keep the water cleaned up during a 30-minute storm. The maintenance man came over, looked at it and apologized that there was nothing he could do until the rain stopped. He left. I was never offered another apartment, a replacement for my curtains, mattress, bedding and pillows that were ruined.
2. My bath tub wasn't draining. They poured 2 gallons of drain cleaner / unclogger down the pipe. My daughter and I came home and within minutes our eyes were burning and watering and we were both sick for two days afterwards. We were not offered a hotel for the night or even a vacant apartment. I would have rather slept on the floor than stewed in the fumes overnight. As it was, we had no other choice (unless we wanted to sleep outside).
3. This was a 2-1 unit so with the bathtub out of commission we couldn't bathe or shower for a week while they fixed the Broken pipe (the same pipe they poured the 2 gallons of death down).
4. I called the police on my neighbors every other day. Management never gave them the boot, despite the myriad of police reports. The walls are paper thing and we could hear them fighting about her cheating and his apparent lack of ability to satisfy. With an 8-yr old child that was Not a living environment I wanted to be in. This was trailer-park behavior, not Northwest Hills!
5. The master bedroom lost power for two weeks because of a blown fuse. A blown fuse . . . and it took Two weeks to fix.
6. The disposal broke. It took 3 months to replace.
7. The stove was broken when I moved in. Two months later I received one from another unit.
8. The dryers by the leasing office caught on fire. There were two half-functioning dryers remaining for the next four months. The washers were constantly broken down and the dryers, before being destroyed, would stop half-cycle or dry with cold air. You would think the leasing company would locate a different service for the laundry facilities.
9. In my time there I went through five leasing managers, with only the last being somewhat competent. Fonda was sweet and well-meaning but Far too discombobulated for the task at hand. During her term I received an eviction notice (my rent was Never late). The reason for the eviction' I hadn't renewed my lease. The lease they were Supposed to deliver for me to sign. The lease I called the office about Four times. I ended up getting $100 off my next month's rent so that's a kudos to Fonda.
10. They put a Huge sticker on my driver-side window because my inspection was past due. By two weeks. They can take all the time in the world to see to maintenance, but heaven forbid your car be non-street legal for two weeks.
11. My microwave caught on fire during regular use. They wouldn't replace it.
12. The pool by the leasing office was closed by the city because the pool was so foul. That lasted two summers (one by the city and one by common sense).
13. The management gave my neighbors an eviction notice. On bright yellow paper. With balloons.
14. Oh! Mice. I had mice and complained. They never did anything about it and I found one of the mice when I moved out. Dead. In my $250 down comforter. With its babies. Northcastle was bequeathed a dead mouse comforter upon move out.
15. My friend moved down from MI and it took them three tries to get his apartment set. The first one had fire damage and they couldn't get it cleaned up in time. The second had smoke damage from the lady who lived there Forever.
16. You can't have your own bbq and the grills they provide have rusted through and since ceased to exist. The picnic benches are full of splinters.
Oh, there's more, but I think folks get the idea. It was a nightmare and the projects would have been a welcome upgrade from Northcastle. I still live nearby and talk to my old neighbors. Nothing much has changed, other than the appearance. I should have posted this review two years ago and I apologize to those who would have benefited from this information.
Summary: The price for the area was Very right. Everything else was completely Wrong.
