This is not a good place to live. the owner is pushy and arrogant, and generally unresponsive to complaints. he screamed at my roomate over the phone.
The apartments are poorly constructed and it is easy to hear what your neighbors are saying. Maintenence was also a problem the water would be shut off frequently with no notice. Construction projects were carried out with seemingly inexperienced day laborers and with no regard for inconvienence or noise pollution.
There is no central air or heat( window units and a Plug in radiator) No dishwashers in the units. Washers and dryers would malfunction in the laundry room and not be fixed for weeks.
Cars in the parking lot were frequently burglarized. these apartments were across the street from a notoriusly dangerous housing project known as meadowbrook. Many cab drivers refused to go to this part of south austin.
This apartment complex used to be a collection of run down crack houses untill the owner bought them for fifty cents from HUD! He had to make 500,000 dollars in improvements, but they are not really visible.
Upon moving out the landlord/owner wanted my roomate and myself to pay for new carpet,paint,miniblinds, among other things which totalled over 1000 dollars.
I urge anyone who is considering living at the pastures to keep looking. If you live there now get out NOW.
I caution anyone who is thinking about signing a contract with the pastures, Dont give the landlord any of your money.
