I've lived in the 450 sq ft floorplan since august 07 and will be moving out in a couple of weeks (because I graduated and am leaving Austin). Overall, I've liked this apartment, but there are some issues.. I've heard that other people had NO bug problems. This is NOT true!! It all depends on the building. I have had tiny and medium sized roaches the entirety of my lease even though they send the pest control guy out here (by request) every two weeks. I've discovered that he doesn't actually spray, he just puts bait, which is a very ineffective way to rid yourself of an infestation (the buildings are wood and old, and there have been roaches here since day 1). Also, the appliances are old and the dishwasher is LOUD (I can always hear my neighbors' late at night). And the walls are paper thin, so I hear EVERY noise my neighbors make and ever footstep of those above me.

On the plus side, the rent is not too expensive for this area and my electric bill has never been over 45 (including all fees). The size of the apartment is perfect for one person (and a cat) - ideally a student because it has a stop for both the 1L/1M and the 101 and is close also to the IF bus. The office and maintenance guys are VERY VERY friendly and there is never a wait on any maintenance or pest control or any other problems. There is also lots of parking space, I've never had to park anywhere other than right in front of my building.

Honestly, the only really bad, intolerable aspect is the roaches, and that might just be my building. However, that has been enough to make me want to move for a few months now. One other note about safety.. there have been multiple car break-ins recently and there have been other suspicious situations resulting from 711 across the street and the sketchy apartment complex next door.
