I'm a senior at the University, and I've lived in about 5 different apt. complexes throughout my college years. My experience here has not been pleasant or even neutral.
My roomates and I expected to be signing a 9 month lease, as was informed to the staff when we first agreed to lease the apt. However, my roomate signed the 12 month one without realizing. By the time I stopped by to sign the lease, I actually made sure I read what I signed and realized it was written wrong. I did not sign the lease, and urged the staff to rewrite it, but they refused. Not only that but they said that we had to keep paying rent for the apt. until it was off the market. Basically, they wanted us to pay the extra 3 months rent, and trapped us. The situation could have been handled in a mature and honest way, by simply having the lease rewritten, after all, I caught the mistake before finalizing the lease with my signature. I think that the customer service should have been important in this situation because the staff made themselves look like very dishonest people. They insisted that it was our responsibility.
God knows what to expect, so I was basically forced to sign it in case they used the place as a model so no one could rent it, and we'll have to keep paying for the damn place. I couldn't trust them and what tricks they might come up with.
When I first moved in the air conditioning didn't work, and the staff insisted I messed with the AC for a day before coming back. I ended up living in the heat of summer for 3 days until maintenence came. After they fixed it, in a few weeks it broke again.
Eventually everything was on task again, and if there was ever a problem the maintenence men would be there in 1-2 days, which I don't think was that bad.
Utility problems and such don't really bother me too much because I've dealt with alot of this stuff in other apartments I've lived in. The thing with this place is that the management is bad, and seems to act like they're there to remind you to pay them money instead of providing service.
