If this only reaches a couple people I will feel that my job is done. First - the place had a great paint job so the exterior looks wonderful...but your apartment is a dump. All of the appliances are outdated...there are cockroach problems...big mold problems....and thats just to name a few. Second - they allow thier trash compactors to overflow with junk which includes dirty diapers, decomposing food, and the like. Needless to say it smells and looks terrible. Third - thier pools are only clean for a short while until they forget to put the necessary chemicals in. Before long they are brown/green and filled with trash. One car was stolen during my stay and another was keyed. Keep in mind I only spoke to 4 different residents and this happened to 2 of them. One time my husband and I came home to a gang in the parking lot and couldn't get thru due to the police cars. Many of the children run rampid and decide to throw the pool furniture in the pool amonst other things. If you visit this community just look at the cars there - the trash compactors - all the dog mess in the yard. Cues we were not smart enough to hone in on. Finally - the "Property Manager" is a joke. She will listen to your complaints but not do anything about them. One of the 4 residents I knew had a window leakage problem he gave up on having fixed and just used towels and buckets when it rained. We complained about the unsanitary trash, and have pictures (I can send you), that they never resolved.

I am 25 and lived in many apartment communities through college and this is the worst. Please do yourself a favor and don't consider this place. Best of Luck - Heather

I agree with Heather's comment and the response from sweetthang sounds to be a staff member; more than likely management. I lived at this place for two years and I would agree completely with almost all Heather has said. I never saw any *gangs* so to speak but my car was broken into along with seven others and everthing was stolen (maybe because the gates are constantly broken, just a thought). The police seemed to know the place real well when I contacted them so I guess this kind of thing happens there alot. The trash overflow at the compactors is ridiculously disgusting and I always felt for the tenants who had to see that day in day out. Luckily my building wasnt in view or smell of them. I could type for days about what a joke this place is but I'll let you decide. Ask some serious questions before deciding to move there. I would first ask for the district or corporate office before signing anything with these people. They could care less about you, all they seem to want is a paycheck. I would recommend anyone who has been as dissatisfied as most of us on this thread seem to be to contact Waterton Residential (parent company of the Retreat) with a letter of disapproval of both the staff and living conditions. I have never felt soo much neglect in my life from an apt. establishment and can only use HATE to describe my stay there. It was horrible and I hated every moment of my life living there. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Don't take my word for it, just drive around the place a few times before considering, the gates will be broken/open and the compactors will be overflowing. Management will be pleasent and seem caring until after your signature is on the lease; then your screwed.

We have lived here for 2 years and have just moved out. An apartment close to us seemed to be inhabited by drug dealers, and the trash is often on the outside of the compactor and yes it looks disgusting! The gates are broken 40% of the time... rough guess but it certainly is a pain. I am also not too happy with the cost vs quality ratio. Management has always been willing to help and friendly.

when the compactor overflows that is because the electric company in their infinite wisdom randomly kills the power, complaining about the management because of this problem is like complaining at the convienent store clerk for the price of gas being too high. if residents dont want beds, coffee tables, etc outside of the compactor then quit putting it out there, we as in management dont do that. what do you want us to do, throw it in the compactor. thats a great idea, lets break the compactor that will fix it. the gates are broken frequently, but because someone is constantly running into them. i have been here for about a year and i have seen the gates broken at least 4 times the same day we have fixed them. i agree that it is ridiculous, but i dont know how to solve this problem. i understand your concerns and do believe that much of them are valid, but please understand that management is not always the problem, but rather we try to be the solution. please dont think that i am making excuses, i understand we can do better, that is why i read these comments every week because i want to hear what you guys think. i cant promise that we can fix everything as soon as it breaks, but i do promise that we will try our best to fix it as promptly as possible. i live here too, and i see residents everyday in and outside of work, this is my home and i want my home to be the best that it can be, also. sincerely, robert
