Not the ghetto, but not party town, either.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
Have been here for a couple of months. My friend has lived here two years.
Positive Points:
1) safe neighborhood
2) UT bus directly across the street
3) HEB/CVS, P Office, Public Library, Banks, Restaurants, Churches a block to four blocks away
4) neighbors are usually quiet
5) office staff has always been available
6) parking hasn't been an issue for us
7) pools are clean
8) renovating tennis/b-ball courts
9) lawns are upkept
10) hot water always available
11) central air conditioning has never broken down
12) appliances are in working order
13) alot nicer than six apartments I viewed in south/central area this summer
Negative Aspects (which arent that big depending on your view point)
1) gapping holes between door and window frames. allows cockroaches, silverfish, bedbugs, crickets, lizards, etc... to get in your apartment. the lizard was not fun to catch... we have tried to plug the holes with tp/paper towels
2) pubic hair and body hair were painted over on shelves and walls so as you use the john or put stuff away you can gaze at the previous tenant's pubies. remedied some of this by buying tack paper so now I see blue bunnies/flowers instead
3) if you cook, the stove fan doesn't lead outside so defeats the purpose of having a fan above the stove... now there is just grease all over the walls and the smell/heat just stays in the apaprtment
Compared to what I have seen in Austin, this is definitely a decent place to live. It is not for the party animals I am afraid. People have left this area b/c of this fact so don't move here if you know that you are going to have keggers and live the animal house lifestyle in an apartment. They will call the police.
