Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
I lived here from 8/2003-8/2005. My roommate and I rented 2 different apartments during our time here. The first was on the 2nd floor in one of the buildings towards the front; where the road splits right and goes straight - That corner building at the fork. We were the first tenants to live in this newly constructed apartment. The only issue we had with it was finding crickets jumping around occasionally in the first few weeks however, maintenance remedied that problem very quickly.
It was a very spacious apartment and got plenty of sunlight. The 2 bathrooms were very roomy as was the master walk-in closet. The kitchen was an upgraded model with glass-top stove and a side-by-side fridge with automatic ice maker/dispenser. Our neighbors were also really quiet.
When our lease expired we moved into the back of the community to a first floor apartment since their rents went up a little and we were on a tight budget. This saved us about $15-20 a month on electricity costs since the AC didn't have to run as much and saved us about $20 a month on rent - Not much, but every little bit helped. Unfortunately this unit was not in good condition when we moved in. Whoever lived here prior to us had a pet, or pets, and when they moved out, the place was never properly cleaned. So after moving in, a few days later my roommate and I awoke each morning with a few bug bites on our bodies, probably from flees or some other pet bug. We had to spend 2 days/nights out of the apartment for them to come fume agate the place - We weren't happy about that.
This unit also only got a little morning sun, so by 1pm or so, you got no more sunlight which was kind of annoying having to keep lights on all the time to see. We didn't have any next door neighbors as there was a garage next to us and no one below us. The folks upstairs had a child and it would often throw stuff off the balcony and it would land on ours. Not a big problem but that's about all I can say about it.
The original maintenance crew and office staff were amazing. They fixed any issues we had within 24 hours and the office staff always listened to any questions and comments. The pool is a bit small for this community but for the first year or so it was usually pretty empty and thus could be enjoyed. By the end of our time here, you could often find plenty of children down there which made it less appealing for adults to enjoy being quiet.
The on-site work out space was fantastic and I used it 3 days a week. It was never really packed except from about 6-7am and then from 5:30-7:30pm. I would go either late at night (10ish) or at about 10am during the weekday. There are plenty of machines to work both weight training and cardio. They also had a cycling room but I never looked into that.
They have an on-site laundry facility which is probably too small. It has only a few washers and dryers. I used a relatives washer/dryer during most of my stay so never had to deal with this though I could see it being a problem for others. The grounds were well kept and the place was mostly quiet. There were an occasional "late night" party but I guess we lucked out always being a few apartments away from all that noise. The parking might have been bad, but I didn't notice. My roommate bought a carport for the $35 a month charge and I just used the general parking. I always got a spot near the apartment and only a handful of times did I have to park a 20 second walk away from it. Once we moved to the apartment in the back of the complex, parking was no longer an issue. They had a good 40-50 empty spots back there and it was a HUGE lot.
I can't speak for the place now, but from 2003-2005 the place was wonderful and if I didn't move out of state I might have remained there until I could of moved closer to the city.
