The truth! The goods and the evils!

Where to start' Well, I've been living at River Oaks fro about a year now. I LOVE this community but it does have it ups and downs. I'll start with the ups: It's a very beautiful community and fairly safe. It's Pet friendly. The staff is very nice and friendly (when you can get hold of them). I absolutely LOVE the layout of my apartment and so do my dogs. It's kind of like a race track layout. Imagine a studio apartment with a kitchen right in the middle and doors closing everything off. If you open the doors, the dogs can run around in circles chasing each other. It's also entertaining to watch. The Maintenance repairs never took longer than a day to fix and they were fast and friendly also! Oh yeah, the dog park is also a pretty nice place to take your dogs. They enjoy it and can wear themselves out.
Ok, now the downs: First of all the parking could of been better thought out before they actually built the apartment. At times especially on weekends, you would have to park VERY far away from your building. The second worse thing and take it as a warning, don't get a second floor apartment next to the stairwell. The noise vibrates into the apartment loudly and you'll hear it at all hours of the night and day. It sounds like people are stomping up the stairs but in reality they aren't. The only other down that I can think of at the moment is the rent prices. The apartment I have is a little under 800 square feet and I was already paying 841 and that's with a PEP. It's true that they are doing a lot of upgrades, but that's just for new residents. I did get a friendly notice letting me know that my 60 day notice would need to be put in shortly but if I wanted to renew my lease that I could pick ONE thing for them to upgrade or they could get the carpet professionally cleaned but they would be raising my rent at the same time.
That's why I had to move out. I have a really hard time imaging paying more than a dollar for every square foot of my apartment which I already was. I just didn't want to pay more. That's about all that I can think of off of the top of my head. But if you can afford it and want to live in a nice safe community the River Oaks is the place for you!
