Lived here for 3 years and wouldn't mind living here again

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009
I lived in building 13, and my experience is based on that location. I was near a lot of parking and never had to park far from my building. Building 13 was in between the two pools and not far from the trash compactor. As a UT student, I loved the location of this apartment. It only took about 15 minutes to commute to campus during the week, and it was far enough to be away from the obnoxious partying students. The area is beautiful and while there isn't a lot of immediate shopping, Lakeline and Barton Creek malls aren't too far. Since my family lives in Dallas, this apartment was located very close to the tollway which was another bonus.
Living here for three years I have seen a lot of leasing staff come and go, some good, some horrible, but I never felt there was no one in the office to help me. The current manager is fantastic, and if you don't know her yet you should. I could do without the assistant manager, but I no longer have to deal with her so it doesn't matter. Every maintenance request I have ever given the complex was completed the next day. I have always enjoyed talking to the maintenance staff and most of them are very friendly. I don't understand why people complain that the maintenance staff is rude and unhelpful.
I have an indoor cat, so I can't speak on what it was like to live here with a dog. I feel it cannot be too bad since so many people have dogs. I will say that there are plenty of people who do not pick up after their animals, and that is on the individual, not the complex.
I loved the valet trash service every Mon/Wed/Fri. It was great. I read one review where someone actually complained about it. They were upset they had to walk around trash in the morning. How absurd! Especially since most people place trash on the grass... Plus, think of the alternative. One, they could place dumpsters throughout the complex which is unsightly and takes away from parking spaces, or, two could have one trash compactor and make you take your trash there yourself. I have experienced both scenarios once at Presido and the other at Falcon Ridge respectively.
Before I moved in I read the reviews about some of the bug issues. There are certain buildings that have issues with scorpions and other insects. I simply asked the staff before I signed a lease which buildings were usually affected by them and chose not to live there. They are limited in what they can spray as far as pesticides because it is a protected nature area. The higher up you live, the less likely you are to have bug problems. I personally had very few bug problems, but I didn't have an apartment that backed up to a bunch of trees or tall grass, and I was on the second floor.
I have noticed that some people complain about safety. This complex is very well lit. There is crime everywhere, and compared to many other places, there is very little crime here. Most of incidents are domestic disputes, and have nothing to do with the overall safety of the complex.
I really enjoyed living here. I had to move back to Dallas since I graduated and haven't found a job. When I do find a job in Austin, and it is within a reasonable distance to Riverlodge, I would definitely move back.
