Good location, ------ management/ownership

I've lived here several months in a small one bedroom overlooking the lake. I love to sit outside and look at the birds, turtles, boats, swans. . . I could go on and on. The hike and bike trail along Town Lake is literally right at our doorstep, so it's easy to get out and enjoy nature. It only takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to Barton Springs, and then you can even go to the Greenbelt. It's easy to attend concerts or festivals at Auditorium Shores without having to worry about parking. Congress Bridge is a 5 minute walk if you like to watch the bats. If you have a boat, you can user that as your transportation to the fireworks on the 4th, or listen to music at Auditorium Shores. Fabulous.

Some have called these apartments "dumpy", but I strongly disagree. These apartments are very unique and cool. My apartment has an entire wall of exposed brick, which adds character and texture. I have a huge bathroom and closet, a small open kitchen with nice built in shelves and wine rack. One wall to my bedroom is a large sliding glass door and tall window. The entire wall is a vision of the lake. I don't mind the turquoise paint peeling on the outside or the outdated built in table inside. . . I would much rather live in a place with character surrounded by trees and normal sweet people than in a sterile white walled emotionless yuppyville high-rise with no sense of community or appreciation for what Austin is supposed to resemble.

I agree that the management is crappy. I'm sure the owners don't care about maintenance anymore. The neighbors seem to be keeping up with the pool and other things. Many of them have been living here for years and years. If you go out to the pool, prepare to meet all of your neighbors because they are out there with out fail every night. Not a whole lot of privacy. The office employees are rude and clueless. It s too bad they can t get there ---- together and realize that people are still living here and paying more than they can probably afford so we should be treated a bit better. All in all, I love it here.
