I've lived at Rockwood for nearly two years. It is older but well-maintained, good location. It is by far the best place I've rented.

Good things:
- The on-site staff! Mary Ann, Maryland, Glen, and Luis are great. They take package deliveries, deal with maintenance problems promptly (often same-day), and are excellent at keeping residents informed of upcoming maintenance, neighborhood watches, etc.

- Ongoing upgrades. The (working) refrigerator was replaced with a new model after I signed the lease. Since then, solar screens and low-flow toilets have been installed, and the blinds were replaced. Residents pay electricity and water, so these aren't just for the property owner's benefit.

- Maintenance! Both general upkeep of the complex and response to service requests is exceptional, in my experience as an Austin renter.

- The price is quite reasonable for the area and the services provided, and rent increases have been moderate - $10 the last time I renewed my lease.

- There's an elevator.

Rockwood is great, but it isn't perfect and might not be a great fit for everyone. It is an older, non-luxury apartment building, so the fixtures are functional, but basic. Depending on the unit, there may be traffic noise from Burnet Road. I turned it out pretty quickly. The gate is confusing to visitors used to the usual access-code setup.
