You Need a Car to Live Here

After I signed my lease and all of the other paperwork, then I was told that the apartments were built on a landfill. I wish they had told me before- it seemed very sneaky and was not a good way to start my stay there. You need a car to live there- only the #339 bus goes anywhere near there- and only on weekdays about once an hour. My apartment constantly had ants. The management was great about getting exterminators in to eliminate the ants, but it didn't do any good- there was a constant stream of them. The people in the management office were very friendly and knowlegeable. I kept hearing about car break-ins, and "sketchy" people, though never witnessed this myself. I saw a coyote near the complex (and lots of bunnies!) so it's scary to walk around there in the dark. A murder happened in Building #14 last week. There's a lot of construction on Highway 183 so the entrance is usually closed- and it's hard to find the back entrance. Bottom line: There are many nicer, cheaper places to live in Austin, and I'm glad that I moved away from Salado.
