I love the location of San Marin. The grounds are nice, and the crown molding is pretty. I've never had much trouble with the apartment staff, and they've generally been very responsive.
Now for the negative. My apartment has flooded twice due to the happenings in the apartment above me. I did get a new couch out of it and San Marin put me in a hotel while my apt. was repaired. However, many of my things were a big wreck when I moved back in and it would have been nice for them to offer cleaning help.
My welcome mat and the insignia on my car have been stolen. Someone keeps breaking into the outgoing mail slot in the mail room so now I have to drop my mail off somewhere else. My place seems to be infested with millipedes every summer. Seriously, I pick up 20-30 a day. Last summer I had my apt. repeatedly exterminated but it didn't get better until the season changed.
I hate the big balcony that overlooks the parking lot. I would have preferred more living space. And for some reason I get lousy cell phone reception inside. Another negative is that the kitchen cabinets are poorly designed. There are none within easy reach that are wide enough so that my plates can sit flat. I had to buy a stand to store them vertically.
My biggest beef with management was when I gave them a rent check early because I was out of town. I gave them verbal and written instructions not to cash the check until the 1st, which is when I get paid. Well, they cashed it a few days early and caused me to bounce 3 checks, something I have never done before. I deducted the bank fees of $90 from the next month's rent.
So overall, living conditions at San Marin are nice and management is generally responsive, friendly, and eager to help. If only they could get rid of the bugs!
