Good While Here, Getting The Shaft on Move-Out

I was one of the first people to move into these apartments and for the 2+ years I?ve been here it?s been pretty good to me. Looks like this is getting long, so I?ll come back up here and put the important part in. I?m about to move out and am totally getting screwed with their new 60-day move out notice BS. This is obviously just a gratuitous money grab on their part because *no one* could possibly know they are moving out that far in advance. I?m building a house and *I* don?t even know exactly when I need to move out. So now it looks like I may get screwed into paying another $1000+ for time when I won?t even be living here; and of course they structure the pricing in such a way where breaking the lease would cost way more than that. This auto-renew to month-to-month business is BS also, as that is what is ultimately screwing me. I guessed perfectly when I would need the lease to end, but *no*, damn auto-renew + gargantuan 60-day notice puts me into another month at the insanely high month-to-month rate.

Anyway, here is your reward for reading past my rant, a wealth of information. I?ve heard from other people who live here that parking can really suck at times, but I have a carport and it?s definitely worth it. I personally hate gates at apartments (I even got the remote), but they are broken more than 50% of the time, so that?s great for me! Only needed a couple of repairs my whole time here and repair guy was either there that evening or the next day to fix it. Although, when my phone line went on the fritz they claimed *I* would have to pay for it, even though *their* wires are installed in *their* walls. Pool and workout area are nice, but take a second to think about if you really are going to use it at all. Once they started closing the pool at 10pm I haven?t used it since (hey, don?t get a unit near the pool if you don?t want the noise, duh). Rent is a little high as compared to other places around town (I?ve heard Man-Delay (who came up with that name anyway') next door is cheaper, but for good reason apparently) but at least this place is relatively new and convenient for me at least (yeay for the new HEB). One nice "feature" of this place is the "drag-strip" out front... this can be used for some good out of the way car testing (I use it to check repairs I?ve made, and the riceboys give me a good laugh as their 4-bangers go buzzing by.) On top of the slightly higher rent, *NO* utilities are paid for, so you kinda get hit twice in the "rent" department; but the door-to-door trash pick up is nice. Which reminds me, I was going to put a really low score for recycling, but I guess they do have the bins for it, it?s just extremely inconvenient to haul everything over there. Ok, I have to say this before ending my review... a couple of the chicks in the office are really hot, so that at least makes paying rent every month a little less painful.
