It's a pretty good choice

I was a freshman in college going to UT when I lived in Sandstone. I've never had a problem with the staff and the notices/management were all pretty good! There were a few problems though, i'll just list them.

1) the Bug man came once a month, every third tuesday of the month... sprayed a few corners and left, didn't do much against the ants though, but I suppose that's only a problem in certain places... the man stopped coming after the first 6 months.

2) The maintenance staff fixed stuff, after a few trips... our towel racks were falling out of the walls and our shower head leaked everywhere.

3) The electricity costs are insane! I, living in a one bedroom, had to pay in excess of 125$/month for electricity and my AC is only on during the nights at a lowest of 78F, I had no television, only a computer.

4) When I moved out, my friend and I thoroughly cleaned the apartment, we even steam cleaned the carpet, yet they charged us 33$ for carpet cleaning and 64$ was just tacked on to the bill, it didn't even say why just 33$-Carpet 64$- .. they took the entire security deposit but I guess it wasn't bad since it was only 100$.

5) The floor rumbled during the nights, maybe once or twice a month when the people around us blasted music. Beyond that, I didn't have any trouble with hearing our neighbors though.

The Pluses..
1) It's usually quiet during the day.
2) Management was on their ball.
3) Friendly neighbors
4) Felt decently safe.
5) Close to UT

Things that might affect others...
1) The UT bus is about 2-3 blocks away, however the METRO is right outside of the place.
2) Sometimes trains in the night

That's all the things I can think of about the place, however I didn't stay in Sandstone II, I've heard that there were a few break-ins into cars in Sandstone II.

Beyond that the place looks great, alot better than it's neighbors and I recommend this for the CHEAP COLLEGE STUDENT.
