I lived in a 1Bed unit in Sandstone 1 a little more than 2 years.

Utilities:
Other than cable the only utility not coved by sandstone is elec. My electricity bill was about $40 to $60. The max was in the summer when it went to $85 for a month.

Management:
When I was there it was a Husband and Wife and they were good, but the last month or so it was some new guy. Compared to the previous managers he was a Trunchbull, but I am sure he is about the norm for most places.

Apartment:
The place is rather old but pretty well kept. I paid $525 a month and don't regret it. If you like being close to UT or just central Austin it is a pretty good deal. The location of the apartment is the best thing about it. It is walking distance to some pretty kick ass places to eat as well next to both the UT shuttle DF and the Metro Route 20, 21, 22.

Security:
Never a problem for me. The worst I saw was someone who had a jeep had the soft top slashed.

Parking:
Ample.

Maintenance:
N had any major problems. They installed an extra fan in my apartment for free. My water heater leaked a little once and they fixed it day or so.

Noise:
It is an older place so you can hear people if the are stomping or playing music loud. It wasn't bad though.

Other:
The units (or at least the 1bed) lack overhead lighting so you need to get some lamp action. Also there is only one cable connection and it is in a weird spot so you will need to buy a monster long cable to snake along the baseboard.
