I lived there from late summer 2000 (I was not familiar with Austin and this was close to my place of employement) to summer 2003. When I first moved there it seemed really nice, then the apartment complexes across interstate 35 got all the 'druggies' to leave. They just started hanging around at Shadow Creek. It was SO SCARY! I was followed a few times becasue of parking (there are a million places to hide if you want to follow people home and scare them) but I just pulled out my cell phone and turned around and starred at them till they stopped. I had to get a dog just for protection since I lived on the first floor. The drug crowd seemed to move in all at once and you could smell 'cooking of chemicals nearby, meaning drugs because the smell was certainly not food. There were people who lived there that clearly did not speak any English, not that I have a problem with that but I just felt sorry for them thinking that all American apartment complexes have the drunk/drug people around. After 9/11, something changed and I just had to get out of there. We all the sudden got a water bill that was outrageous and the telephone number on the 'company' who did the billing was the same number as the apartment complex. Something funky was going on with the water bill, as if the apartment complex already got it's money elsewhere. My electric bill was outrageous and the A/C was iced over all the time. There was black mold in my vents. Mold was in my closest and I was started getting sick all the time. I still have photos and should sue them but hey I just moved. My neighbor had a leak underneath her apartment and she was getting sick also. The location on this apartments is not good because it is too close to IH-35, and gas stations and motels and a pawn shop. Now if you like living near stuff like that move on in but if you are used to the nice life then this is not a place for you. Oh, and I did not mention the gunshots and drug use in plain day. Maybe those lowlife's have moved on. Maybe not. One nice thing is- that there is a beautiful creek right in the middle of the complex. If you are going to move there, get upstairs near facing the creek.
