Great Choice!
When I first came to Austin, I looked around many different places thinking about price, locality, ease of access to roads so I don't get caught in dreaded traffic, and Shoal Creek met those criterions. I found the manager Rhonda really easy to work with and honest. As such, I filled out the application. One thing I notice is that if you need to co-sign, she will tell you ahead of time so you don't have to waste money on application fee. I thought that was very considerate.
During my stay at the apartment complex, it was safe and clean. Anything that went wrong, it would be immediately fixed. A lot of places said their maintenance was quick but in reality really slow, especially larger corporate apartment.
When my lease was up, I re-signed mainly because the manager was really good about taking care of things. If you have any issues, you can talk to her about it. She logs everything, including phone calls so nothing slips through the cracks.
Right now they are doing renovation to enhance the apartments. The new units will be very nice with nice floors instead of the traditional carpets. I was impressed with one of the units I saw. I would love to come back in the future.
Affordability, location, and home-style management were the main reasons to stay there, at least for me.
