This was our first apartment when we moved to Austin. On the outside, it looked pretty boring, even a little dirty, but I was impressed with the size and layout of the units. And I adored the huge patio we had. There were some problems - our heater and our AC both broke about 2 times each, we had a few plumbing issues, etc. But in my experience the maintenance there was actually good. We never waited more than 12 hours for a response and they kept at it until they fixed the problem. There was a slight bug problem which kind of grossed me out. However, they kept mostly to the patio at night, and only 2 or 3 times in 2 years did I see one in our unit. The crime rate in the area was failr high (while we were living there, a guy was shot and killed on the street one street over), but that's Riverside for you. Considering the area, I felt suprisingly safe in our complex. I can only remember the cops being in our part of the complex about 2 or 3 times, and 1 was for noise complaint. Sound slike alot until you compare it to the complex across the street. I used to sit on my patio and watch the drama unfold every night in the complex across from us. THe parkin glot did pretty much suck - needed repaving and no one knew how to park apparently. The pool was small but clean. The laundry facilities were awful - even after the replaced the od machines with new ones, half of the machines were broken all the time. And apparently no one bothered to try and fix them because they would sit there, filled with water, for days on end, collecting roaches and smelling bad. I refused to go in there at night. Security was so-so. The lighting in the complex left a lot to be desired. But the security guard, Bill, was a great guy, and would give you his cell number if he recognized you as someone who was up and about a lot at night. Staff was alright - they were borderline rude, some of them seemed kind of dumb, but they did their job so I guess that's what mattered.
All in all, I actually enjoyed our time at Shoreline. It had it's problems, it wasn't perfect, and if you can afford something a little better, go for it. But, for what you pay, I'd live here before I'd live in a lot of other places.

Wow I wouldn't have minded so much to live there a couple years ago. It has gotten SO much worse. Bugs? You mean GIGANTIC roaches, our very first night at the apt there was one, and mind you, I am a girly girl who is not used to seeing roaches, this thing was HUGE! I have seen over a hundred in our apt in the few months I have been there. And no my apt isn't dirty because I am very organized and tidy. And the cops? They are there once a week if not more than that. Seen ambulances, firetrucks, all that good stuff. At one time there were 7 police cars in the lot, yes I counted, wouldn't you? Management sucks! And maintenance? HA! What a joke, we put in our request, a week later with our sink still clogged and roaches inside it, we called and asked for an update.. apparently they lost it. We wrote out another one. But the funny thing is, when the mainenance guy came (who didn't speak english) he had the original request that we had written out, lost it my ass!!!!! And the laundry mat, I hear ya! The 2 middle ones have been broken since I've lived here (8 months), and the pool? Forget about it, not even an option. So nasty!!! not even swimable, yet little kids are in there all the time, it disgusts me that parents would let their children in that --------.
