Ok, i was there a year and it wasnt as bad as i thought it was gonna be considering it is in a rough stretch of riverside. The apartments actually have reasonable prices, which is rare considering the proximity to downtown and 1-35. I work downtown and would be there in 7 minutes. The apartments are really big, really, you have to see them to actually believe that they are that big for that price and mine even had a fire place that was pretty awesome. the appliances were good and in good condition. the shower was the best, it was high up ( i am tall) and it had awesome power. there is a gross bug problem on the balconies because trees hang over them and they need to be trimmed badly and this contributes to small lizards crawling all over the place. the people do a really good job of cleaning up the apt before you move in, they will make it look and smell good. However, they obviously put all the money they have into the interior as the exterior is POORLY lit and just downright filthy. I can all but guarantee that your car or a neighbors car will be broken into there. they have a security service show up ONE hour a night, and that is it.. I am not kidding, broken glass in the lots is very common as cars are often broken into (it is a weekly occurrence). there are a lot of families living there, but it is quiet. it is really really dark , i mean its dark at night. also, there are some damn cedar trees that destroy ane reasonable view you may think your gonna get of town lake. the water is close, but lets face it, its not exactly barton springs...
its cheap, you get cable, in every room and the rooms are really big.. I have to say if you have a good car alarm, it could be a LOT worse in austin, especially on riverside.
oh yeah the lady in the office is damn nice, whatever people say, she is a really cool lady. After I moved out i recieved my deposit back, minus cleaning fees that i should have lost, within a month. they dont do a credit check or background check, but maybe they should.
they dont penalize rent if you get a 6 month lease and i HIGHLY recommend you sign a six month to see how you like it before you get trapped into a year. You will literally love it or hate it but at least if you hate it, youre only out 585 a month for a two bedroom 2 bathroon.. it could be a lot worse.
