As is clear from the most recent glowing reviews, the younger crowd loves this apartment complex. When I first moved in, the residents were mostly grad students and young adults working in service jobs downtown. Neighbors were friendly, but relatively quiet and mature. As the years went by, all of my great neighbors moved out and a bunch of kids fresh from campus dorms moved in. I hate to sound like an old fogey, but it became hard to ignore the all-night partying (until 6am some weekdays), the lack of respect for neighbors (broken beer bottles and garbage all over the walkways, football games in the parking lot), and the drama (couples yelling in the parking lot, mentally unstable residents hanging around outside for hours at a time).

And then there is the safety issue. While the neighborhood itself feels safe, and I never heard of any violent crime (other than domestic) in all my years at the complex, safety was not so great. Last year, on Christmas Eve, there was a fire in a storage room (under control of management), bringing fire trucks out and destroying at least one apartment. Management was not forthcoming about the cause of the fire, or what was being done to prevent future fires. In fact, management didn't even inform residents of the fire--anyone who wasn't there at the time had to hear about it from neighbors.

Several female residents (myself included) had the great experience of having clothes stolen from the laundry room (yeah, underwear). I had left my clothes for 45 minutes, just long enough for the wash cycle, and the entire load was gone when I returned.

And you better drive a junker, because the tight parking spaces combined with rowdy, drunk college kids leads to a lot of door dings, scratches and dents.

On the plus side, the people who work in the office are great despite having a horrible boss (the owner, who instituted policies like charging late fees if you don't get your rent check in until after 5pm on the 1st of the month). Maintenance is relatively prompt. Location is great. The apartments are clean, if small.

This is an apartment complex that will appeal to some and be miserable for others. Hopefully I gave some information to help you decide which you would be.
