Having only been a resident for a little less than a year, I have to say how much I appreciate the new property manager's dedication to cleaning up the complex. Not that it was awful, but towards the end of the previous manager's tenure, it was obvious that she was "short-timing" it a bit. Just an overall lax approach to security, visitors, cleanliness and such.

At the beginning of the summer it was suprising to me that some of the new tenants moving in passed the screening process that I had just recently been scutinized in (which I really appreciated). It was just apparent that the previous property manager knew she was on her way out and stopped paying attention to detail as to who was coming and going.

But that has all changed now - the new management is doing everything right to remedy this previous error. While I've overheard from a few other tenants that her decisions are unpopular, she is doing everything properly. It's not a personality contest, it's a job, and I for one appreciate the effort they are putting forward to limit or eliminate the bad element from the property. Finally, the gate code has been removed so that not every last person in the free world knows how to get in anymore. I'm so glad to see that someone is paying attention again to who has access to the pool. For a while there, caravans of families, none of whom actually lived at SoCo were setting up camp at the pool - that has all but almost completely vanished. Finally, broken down cars and trash is being removed from the property. Parking restrictions are being enforced, as they should be, instead of the free-for-all it had developed into. Finding a place to park is not nearly the nightmare it was just a few months ago. I rarely, if ever see people hanging out in the parking lots that I know dont belong. There's almost no noise, and there has been no crime in my area as far as I know.

Overall, I think it's a good place to live and if management keeps up with the direction they are heading, it will continue to be so. The prices are more than fair, the overall upkeep of the units is more than adequate and spacious, and the pool is great. The only minor complaint I have is that the location and access of the laundry room was poorly planned out. The neighbors all seem friendly, and most importantly, quiet - plus there are some really nice families with good kids around. To anybody who's looking to live south, just a couple miles from downtown, you should give it a look AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

If you're are going to complain, at least make sure it is the truth. I don't understand people and their complaints when you don't know all the details. Screening processes have not changed, so they have remained the same. It's ashamed that people are still be judged based on their looks. I'm sure whoever qualifies, gets to life there. Some people just don't want 'to Screen" the race of people they have around them. Security? Please name one apartment community that is 100% safe, we are in Austin! No one can ever guarantee your safety and if they so, I'm sorry they are LYING to you. You have to be highly delusional to think that you are safe anywhere! Pools? Give me a break,on the exaggeration of people setting up camp there. If you are going to lie, at least make it a believable one. Trash was never an issue as well, just people make it a point to brag about what they are doing doesn't mean it was done any better. Some people just don't feel the need to walk around bragging about their day to day tasks, after all it's apart of the job nothing to brag about. Some people just don't need to be patted on the back. By the way, eliminating the bad element is one thing, but it is also another to be discriminatory. May people would be pleased if it turns into an all white community. we are in 2008, right?
