Not if your life depended on it...

I would consider myself a fairly reasonable person. I know there are many demands in apartment management and I understand how difficult it can be to work with customers. I have never in my entire apartment living career, however, had so many issues in one place. The fact that I even felt so compelled as to write a review says enough in and of itself. I am often skeptical about these reviews. There are alot of isolated situations and we all know that we are ten times more inclined to rant about the bad than the good but listen when I tell you, this is not the place for you.
Upon move in none of my outlets worked, all of my appliances were broken (no exaggeration), the window in the back room was broken, no ceiling fans were installed (even though I had purchased them myself to expedite the process and dropped them off three months in advance to be sure the fans would be installed because I was moving in the summer), there was no microwave (even though the lease states that it would be included), and there were bugs in my fridge and frozen in the ice maker. I put in the request to get all of these things fixed and was hoping, since I was a new tenant, that of course they would get my apartment to a livable standard, but I was sorely mistaken. A week goes by, no call backs, no word from anyone in the office, another week passes I call them and ask them what the status was on my work orders. They say they have a long list and will get to it as soon as they possibly can. Long story short, I picked the ceiling fans up myself and installed them, I cleaned the fridge and exterminated the bugs, I bought my own microwave, I managed to get some of the appliances working okay and I got one side of the apartments' outlets working so we could have some electricity. Eventually, meaning 9 months later, we got a microwave and the window fixed. 9 MONTHS! When I actually spoke to one of the maintenance men they admitted that the apartment was not livable when we moved in and they should have waited to lease the apartment.
Reluctantly, I had to extend my lease for personal reasons. I could not move and had no choice but to stay where I was. I was trying to be as positive as possible about this place after all, it wasn't that bad, right' When I resigned they mentioned upgrades that would be installed in the next month. Now, my lease is up and still no upgrades. I didn't hold my breath but when I mentioned them to the office they said the new "energy saving wooden blinds" were on back order and they don't expect them for another 3 or 4 months. Anytime I've ever requested an air filter, I've never received one. I didn't even ask them to install it for me. Every time I've had to go find them in the office myself or purchase one. These examples are only the tip of the iceberg.
My experience with the office staff has not been pleasurable. I understand high turn over, apartment jobs are not fun, but it was the fact that everyone I spoke with was so ill informed about everything. I can't tell you how many times I got wrong information that I ended up paying for. Most recently, someone told us our 60-day notice form was due, you know, the one we never received, 30 days too early. I get eviction notices every month even though I've paid my rent on time or early (they send them out the morning of the 2nd even if the 1st was a Sunday and the office was closed). Megan, the manager, seems like shes working hard to try to make things better. Anytime I've talked to her she has been very reasonable with me, she just really needs a better staff. You can tell, by the tenants that are renting now, that the quality of living has decreased a great deal in the last year and a half. I hear loud booming music and constantly see people drinking and yelling in the parking lot. What started out as a younger, family community is now something completely different.
So, please, ask questions, be thorough when you're looking at this place, make sure it's all in writing, don't settle for "we'll take care of it when we can". Ultimately, avoid it if you can.
