I lived in these apartments for two years, and it was the best of the 4 places I lived in Austin. It was fairly affordable, the grounds were nice, the maintenance was quick, and I only had one problem with the office staff (which was resolved). I never had any problems with noise or car break-ins either, but I did have a prowler on my porch one night...I heard some heavy breathing outside and flipped my blinds and turned on the light to see a man jumping off my porch. That was pretty scary for a single woman living alone, but not the apartment's fault. The cops came fast (station is close) but they didn't catch him...I kept the light on outside after that and he never came back.

The location was great -- easy access to downtown and the highway, and I loved the coffee shop across the street. My one real complaint is that the laundry room was small (3 washers and driers for a fairly big complex) and not centrally located.

My advice: buy some window locks and live on the second floor, and you'll be fine. I've moved out of town and actually kind of miss this place.
