Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I lived here for one year and upon move in paid over 300.00 in deposits for my pet and the apartment. I moved out after the one year lease but my roomate resigned with somebody else for 6 months. Fair enough, they hold onto the deposit even though there is no longer a pet in the apartment, but after the 6 month lease ended for my former roomate there was a "mix up" regarding their lease and somehow an additional month was added onto the lease making it 7 months (which they don't even do). Both people on that lease had already moved and given notice but the apartments decided to try to sue for the additional month's rent (still pending) and of course my deposits are out the question by this time. Also during the time I lived there, we recevied a reduced rent for the excessive noise caused by the train. One day we receive a noice complaint (reported by our downstairs neighbors who never bothered to introduce themselves or let us know they had a problem), which said "please refrain from heavy WALKING at night". Okay people, you are paying cheap rent to deal with the most insanely loud train noise imaginable and you are complaining over walking at night. I happened to work nights at the time and thought it was absolutely ridiculous. Another time we received a noise complaint when both of use were in bed before midnight and the time of the complaint was 2 am. One weekend we were out of town and the maintence or mgmt entered the apartment and moved things around and ordered pay per view movies on our cable. (we were the only ones with keys and the apartment was not broken into). When we first moved in I would have friends over to use the pool on the weekends during the day and mgmt always asked what apt we lived in (3 or 4 times). Duh, the same people you asked last weekend. My car was broken into on property which mgmt disregarded and a neighboring unit caught fire and we were never notified by mgmt, just happened to see our neigbors moving out. The night security patrol is an old man who can barely speak, forget preventing any crime. The ac unit broke several times in summer and they had to replace the thermostat about 3 times until they finally just left it with a jerry-rigged fixture. They are ridiculous, concerned about all the wrong things, like your personal business, and not concerned with their own business' issues. You have to be very persistent about repairs and maintence or nothing will be done at all. Rent was never late once and we never violated the apartment policies but somehow were still screwed in the end. There are many other places in the area that have better service for the same pricing, I have lived in the area for many years and this was the worst apartment to live in of all.
