I had signed my lease before I read all of these reports and then wanted to change my mind. Either way, I decided to stay. I agree with most of the posts, but it's not really the worst place ever. 1) There ISN'T ever any hot water, except in the showers. Dishwasher and washing machine are always running on cold water. 2) Maintenance responses are spotty. I've had the guy come fix a stopped up garbage disposal (after 4 frantic phone calls) on the same day, but my roomate has been waiting for a new ceiling fan for two months. 3) Some of the residents are kinda shady, but hey - it is the East Side. You knew they were gonna be here when you decided to check out this part of town. 4)I've found the office staff to be ambivilant. They are not horrible people, but they don't go much out of their way to do anything for the residents. 5) Parking does suck. I was told that in the very beginning. I was told which apartments had good exposure, good access and/or good parking. I chose good parking.

I wouldn't reccommend this place to everyone, but like I said, it's not the worst place to live.

You're completely right, it's not the worst place ever. To sum up your statement, it takes ~10 minutes to get hot water running through the pipes, maintenance either gets to it today or months from now, you keep an eye on your neighbors, the office staff (in general) doesn't care unless commission is involved, and there's no place to park. It could be worse, you could have people breaking into your car. Wait, that does happen here. You could have people breaking into your apartment, wait, that does happen here. You could have people getting shot in the parking lot, oh, that does happen here, too. So what is the the rent in this place you speak of?

No one gets shot in the parking lot, stop crying and buy houses people!
