We came to this complex straight from midwest when we moved to Austin in 2006. They offered a good deal on rent and allowed pit bulls (due to behavior issues, our pit bull was unable to make the move). The first year wasn't bad. There were some problems with the gates, water went out a couple of times and the gym equipment was usually broken (especially the lone exercise bike).
However, we were pretty pleased with everything and I didn't want the hassle of moving again, so we decided to sign up for another year. That was a HUGE mistake: 1.) The rent went up almost a $100/month at first. For some reason (that was never expalined) the water charges doubled. Then we negotiated a lower rent over the phone, and they just dropped off a lease agreement to make sure we signed it before my wife and I left for vacation. On the lease, I wrote a note saying that I am agreeing to this lease as long as it added up to the price we agreed to over the phone. Apparently the note was lost, because they added another $23 to our monthly rent at the 1st payment under the new lease. Monthly pet fees were also added. 2.) One of our cars was broken into. 3.) The north exit gate has not worked since the summer. The only time the gate has been open was when it was left open for a week (of course then coincided with the time my car was broken into). 4.) The lone entrance gate has broken down on multiple occassions and the south exit gate has been known to breakdown and leave a long line of cars in the morning with people trying to get to work. 5.) A majority of dog owners don't pick up after their dog, or let their dog/s run free. This is expecially frustrating because I have a dog and do follow the rules. 6.) The thing that saddens me the most is the new neighbors that are being let in. It seems like a concert goes on in my building everynight around midnight and doesn't stop until 2-3 hours. There was a time over the summer where I couldn't go to my car and back without getting a contact high. I could list more, but it would be pointless. Depending on how desperate your situation is, it seems like you could get a lot more value for your money elsewhere. My wife and I stopped recommending this place to friends and will be moving out in the summer. Some people in the office are very nice to speak with, but others can be extremely rude or could care less about what you have to say. If you have a box sent here, good luck.
