I lived at Tanglewood for nearly three years and loved it. Nothing beats the inclusive a/c and heat. Yes, management decides when its on heat or when its a/c but you deal with no more than a couple of days of discomfort, if any.
The location is great - it borders Hyde Park, is two blocks from a great HEB, and has a UT shuttle stop for a 10 minute ride to campus. Its relatively quiet, there's bound to be some noise but its limited and has fewer undergraduates than some other complexes.
Management was awesome and friendly. My maintenance problems were resolved within the day and the manager gave me great prorated deals for leaving my apartment vacant each summer. And incidentally, there's a nice, small dvd library for you to rent from management.
My only complaints are parking and roaches. If you're coming home late, expect the possibility of parking in the neighborhood or resort to share a space with a friend. Also, visitors get towed if they do not have a visitor's permit in their car. And the spaces are cramped, you sometimes have to open your door with care to not ding your neighbor's car.
I had roaches in my apartment despite the monthly complimentary spraying. However, I lived on the ground floor and near the pool which could explain why. Its really not the complex's fault, just don't be surprised when you see them.
