I won't be Renewing...
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 2/26/2007
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
I've lived in this complex for the past 2.5 years. The only reason why I renewed last year was lack of time/money to move. I pay about $900 for a 2 bedroom apartment with a sunroom and direct access garage. For the money, it's a lot of floor space. Of course, that's one of the few positives.
Here's what I've dealt with since MBS took over.
1. Last summer it took maintenance 4 trips just to get my AC working. And check this out, the lease specifically states that a broken AC is NOT a maintenance emergency.
2. Gnats EVERYWHERE!!!! Thank goodness it froze for three days last month. That finally killed them off. When I complained to the office that I had gnats in the apartment, the response was, "Oh everyone does. Just pour some bleach down your drain." I am a clean person and I don't have pets or plants in the apartment, but the gnats were clearly coming up the pipes.
3. Rude office staff. As already mentioned, the staff acts like everything they do is a favor to you. They never learn anyone's name (the AMLI staff knew us on site and even our apartment numbers). Just make sure if you stop by you have time to sit around and wait.
4. Ever-changing office hours. They never keep them constant. Sometimes they open at 8:30, sometimes at 9:00, sometimes they close at 5:00, and sometimes they close at 6:00. It's always a guessing game.
5. Lack of security lights. It took me three weeks from my request just to get the lights in my breezeway fixed. Other than that, most of the security lights on the buildings have burnt out and they don't replace them. Just drive through here about 9pm in the evening to see how dark it gets.
6. Lack of parking. While some of the residents have adequate parking (the apartments on the backside by the Villas), all of the units towards the right have little to no extra parking. If you move in, just try and get a unit with an apartment or a covered parking slot. The garage units that are not attached are way over priced.
7. Dog pooh everywhere. Even if you are not hanging out in the dog park, there's pooh everywhere. No one cares about the place, so nobody cleans up after Fido.
8. While my neighbors are not loud, some of the closer buildings are noisy. I frequently hear people outside yelling, and there's one particular building with a large dog. Unfortunately he (or she) is left on the balcony and gets to barking at everything.
Hmm... Well, that's all I can think of for now. Reading some of the other posts, I'm getting worried about my deposit. Have a feeling I won't be getting that back. In fact, I lost my water deposit from the change over between AMLI and MBS, but since it was only $25 didn't want to fight it.
One interesting note... Since MBS has received all of the bad press from FOX7 and other sources, they no longer fly the MBS flag at the front of the complex!
Can't wait until my lease is up. Definitely making the move this time around.
