Timbercreek has a few advantages. It has an incredibly convenient location, there is always parking, they can sign a six month lease, the staff members are helpful and courteous, there is usually a vacancy, and it is pet friendly. However, "no frills" is an understatement. It is very noisy. I can hear every step my upstairs neighbors take, every note of their music, and, unfortunately, their intimate interpersonal relations. When I first moved in, the roof in the hall leaked so badly every time it rained that it would come gushing through the roof to the third floor, through that floor, on down to the ground level. They have since fixed the problem, but the light fixture is askew from all the water damage, and the sheet rock is obviously rotten. The interior stairwell in my building reeks of urine, and the floor is uneven underneath the carpet in the hall as well as in my apartment. Due to all the dogs, my cats became infested with fleas, even though they never go outside or even leave the apartment (we live on the second floor). They have been recently updating the buildings (long overdue), but the paint they have used is so cheap it is already coming off (after about a month). Timbercreek is an OK place to live if you are young and/or don't want to put a lot of effort into finding a place to live. It's not that cheap though, considering what you get. Also, the plumbing sings and I know when my neighbors shower and flush their toilets. Water pressure can't be beat, though. That's the best part of the whole experience, in fact.

Agree wholeheartedly with Anonymous' review. All the things he/she wrote are correct. However, if you are one of the two or three people in Austin who do not drive, the location really makes up for all of its shortcomings. Definitely, though, other, better places can be found if you do drive.

That is why I always get the top floor of any apartment. If noisy neighbors is the problem then always choose a top floor when renting. I learned the hard way and lived on the second floor of a 3 story complex and heard my neighbors every moves at all hours. Apartment life in general sucks. Save your money and get a house instead.
