Jefferson Canyon Apartments -- Maybe Not

The preserve and the grounds are pretty.
But:
There's no safe place to walk anywhere. There are no foot-paths, so you're forced to walk where the vehicles drive -- very very dangerous.
####
The staff/manager will be looking to set up a dog park, but the staff will change, so goodbye dog park.
Dog poop problem' -- the staff's on it, and then the staff changes.
Infested with bugs' -- eventually you'll convince the office it's serious. And then' -- a Manager / Staff change and you have to start from scratch all over again.
####
If you have an issue (insects, AC going out, commodes etc), they will either respond right away (about 50% of the time), or your work orders fall into some big black hole, until you're ready to scream. When you complain, there's somebody in the office who'll go out of their way to help you.
And then -- STAFF CHANGE!
####
Parking is terrible. You MUST pay extra and get the garage, or you can't park. DON'T THINK about not getting the garage
There's tenant turnover too - it's very high. Some people want better deals on rents, but some (like us) will move at the end of the lease just because we're not happy.
ALSO, CHECK YOUR LEASE. I doubt that they do this on purpose, but if I hadn't caught a few things, we would have had to pay at the end of lease for things we never had in the first place (storage areas, and things like that). This would have amounted to HUNDREDS of dollars.
This is not a horrible complex -- from what I've read on aptratings there are far worse in Austin -- but if you're interested in renting here, come in with your eyes open.
