Sterling is absolutely the worst housing complex in Austin. Sterling assumes that since mostly students are living here that they do not need to provide the residents with service that would be expected at any other complex. The apartments were built very cheaply, and you can tell, as they are now falling apart and things keep breaking. The exhaust fan in our bathroom does nothing, and it is constantly humid in there - the walls of the shower grow mold and the wood around the door is rotting. The carpet is disgusting and leaves the bottom of your feet black if you walk around on it - even though we just got it steam cleaned! There are bugs everywhere in the apartment - we even find them in our silverware drawer! The grounds are poorly maintained - there are TONS of fire ant beds in the grass so watch out. Most of the sprinklers are broken so they just shoot water straight up in the air or they just spray the cars in the parking lot. Management here is very unreceptive to problems, and it is really shady that they will not let you contact ANYONE from the corporate office - the property manager is the highest person you can talk to. Above that, they give you the stupid SUH Cares phone number, which just leads you to a message machine, and your call will never be returned. Maintenance is just a bunch of college students who do not know what they are doing - we have come home numerous times to an unlocked door because maintenance doesnt lock up when they leave. In addition, sterling will enter your apartment whenever they feel like, no notice required, and they will not leave a note saying they have been there. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to live here unless they dont mind living in a slum and paying a high price for it.
