Awful management and HIGH utility bills! From: jalapeno21 Date posted: 12/16/2005 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005   When I first moved to Austin I lived here thinking I would like to be around other college kids and the apartments looked pretty new and nice inside. I was wrong! The first day I moved in I was sorely dissapointed that I had signed my lease. My apartment hadn't been cleaned at all from the last tenants...the mattress in my room had VOMIT on it! It took all day for maintenance to come bring a new one and they only replaced the top mattress not the box springs which also had vomit on it! Plus they didn't even take away the vomit mattress. They just left it on the floor in my room! I finally had to get help form a neighbor to take it to the trash! There were also pubic hairs in my dresser drawers and bathroom. No, I'm not making this up. Yes, there were PUBES! GROSS! The low rent is counteracted by the outrageously high utility bills. I lived in a 4/4 and we hardly ever cooked and NEVER ran the a/c and our electric was still over $200! My parents live in a 3,000 sqft home and don't pay that much! Plus you "share" your water bill with the entire building so it was really high...not to mention that the office runs the sprinklers EVERY night on full blast even when it is pouring rain outside! It floods the parking lot and often the sprinklers are turned so that they aren't even spraying the grass but are pouring down on concrete or worse YOUR CAR so that you can't even get into it! Who pays for that water' You do! When I moved out I got a charged for all kinds of fake things. Broken glass littered the parking lot and my roommates and I always had flat tires from it. Car break ins are also a problem. The apartments directly behind sterling are cheap and filled with thugs that walk through the fence and break into cars. I've watched them do it and had to call the police. Don't live here. Spend a little more money on rent and get a regular apartment. When you go visit your friends who live here you'll be happy you did!
