I'm not sure what's transpired as far as new management is concerned, etc. but this place has turned to a big crap hole.
I've lived at this apartment complex two different times now, once in my sophomore year and not in my senior year. The first time around, I had a GREAT experience. The management, led by Mike Gesch, was awesome and they really worked with me as far as bills, rent, etc. was concerned. When I couldn't move in within my official date and when I had to extend my lease unexpectedly by two weeks, there was no problem what so ever. Also, my neighbors were SO. FRIENDLY. The quality of life was great. Things happened, and my junior year I ended up living on West Campus and experienced TERRIBLE customer service, apartment quality, the whole she-bang (with ELY PROPERTIES...don't EVER lease with them!) I thought that moving back to U. Commons for my senior year would be a good choice because I had had such a good experience the first time around. Since I moved out the first time, someone bought the complex and management has changed hands. It's TERRIBLE. The staff is SO. RUDE. They don't care that this apartment should be catering to students with crazy schedules, etc. When my roommate's student loans didn't come in on time she wasn't able to pay her rent, etc. They stuck her with $100's in fees, even though she had worked it out with one of their leasing agents that she would pay her rent as soon as her student loans came in. If you cater to students, you should expect situations like that, shouldn't you' They pretend to care about "suspicious activity" in the complex, but when I've reported it they totally brush it off and say that they're not "managing our resident's safety." Plus, the parking lot is not lit very well at all, so if you're out late frequently you might think about that. The quality of the facilities and apartments leave a lot to be desired. Oh, and if you're concerned about your grades, etc., don't bother living here. It's entirely too loud.
In summation, stay away from this apartment complex. It's not worth your time.
