Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
Unfortunately I came in to University Commons in August of 06' when they were undergoing a change of management. The problem that I encountered when first moving in was that the date they approved to be my "move-in date" was later moved without my knowledge. I showed up with my personal items ready to move in only to find out that my contract had been "modified" and I needed to sign this "new" version. The only thing that had changed was that instead of moving in on the 13th as stipulated by the contract, I had to move in a day later. Even though this may not seem like much of a hassle, it actually becomes very apparent when having to move in and out twice in a day and a half. Since I lived at The Ballpark (right across the street) I deliberately made my move in date the same as my move out date from this previous apartment. However, due to the paint not being dry (so they said), I had to move into a friend's place way up north (I couldn't leave things in my car; it wasn't a good neighborhood) and then move out the next day and back in to my new apartment at University Commons. What pissed me off the most, however, wasn't this inconvenience, but rather the lack of CUSTOMER SERVICE at this location. One of the employees tried to work things out with me but was EXTREMELY RUDE. These are a couple of statements of his:
-"What difference is one day going to make' Oh wait, do you not have any friends'
-"It's not my problem"
-"You're going to have to sign it, you don't have a choice"
-"We don't let people move in during the weekend so that was a favor to you. So I don't see now why you're complaining"
-"You go get it yourself"
-"Even if I return your money for that one day you won't afford a hotel"
I am VERY GLAD that this employee no longer works with the new management and it's safe to say that as far as everything I have needed throughout the semester has been taken care of under this NEW MANAGEMENT. All maintenance problems I had were taken care of the same day and the new employees (and new manager thank God) have all been very nice. Needless to say a wrote a very wordy complaint to corporate office.
