...Unless you are cheap/desperate/don't care about your safety or peace of mind.

Let me just lay out the pros and cons in a more equitable fashion.

Pros:
-Cheap rent compared to West Campus, North Campus, Hyde Park, Downtown, etc.
-Student community with lots of... students.
-Pool other amenities
-Close to HEB, some places to eat / fast food
-UT shuttle route runs by

Cons:
-Being a student community (for the most part), it gets noisy often. Especially weekends, as expected. So prepare for partying, drunken fools, and lots of vomit and other trash on stairwells.
-I wouldn't trust the pool or many of the other amenities since who knows who has used them and for what purpose.
-The HEB is ghetto central. Too many people not wearing shirts or shoes and little kids running around everywhere without parental control. Definitely not safe for girls at night to go to.
-UT shuttle isn't that quick because of traffic on I-35. Also can fill up depending on what time you have to go to class at.
-Did I mention the people here are idiots' While leaving at 9 PM this past Feb. on a Wed night I was hit head-on by a resident who was high and drunk. He was turning left at nearly 15 mph. I was going straight towards the gate with the right of way, and he still manages to turn into my lane of traffic without even trying to brake. My SUV is totaled. He tries to threaten and intimidate me since I'm a girl and his friend works in the office. The friend, who will remain nameless, comes and she tries to threaten me as well. I call the cops, she leaves the scene for a while. He runs away and throws out his stash of weed. He comes back, tries to lie and say the EXACT OPPOSITE of what occurred was what happened, and the cop sides with me. After him HIDING from the insurance claim for a month, it finally gets resolved. I WIN - obviously - and his sorry ass, and his sorry POS car, is still there while I have moved on.
-Even without stupid people like the one above, the area is scary enough on its own. Gunshots are common, as are news stories of stabbings, gang activity, etc. Be warned.

So that is my take on it. I would've left no review, or a mild one, had I not had so many run-ins with ridiculously idiotic people who amazingly survived this far in life. Staff has also tried to rip my friends off with rent, with the lease, etc. and they've had to take it to the Apartment Association. Just save yourself the trouble, spend a little more money, and live somewhere much better. You'll thank yourself later.

I agree. Spending $25-$50 more across the street is way better than this craptastic place.
