I lived here from 2000-2001. The only good things about this place are that they have elevators (that unfortunately sometimes smelled like pee) and it only took me 5 minutes to get to class.

Every time I got up from bed to get ready in the morning, the floor boards would creak, causing the neighbors downstairs to bang on their ceiling with a broom. The floor boards were all old and uneven, and some must have been broken. The place hadn?t been cleaned before we moved in, there were bugs everywhere, and the carpet was old and disgusting. Homeless people often took their dogs for baths in the swimming pool and people had their clothes stolen from the laundry room several times. The "wallpaper" in the "dining room" looked like it had been there since the place was built and still had remnants of magazine cut outs the tenants before us must have put up to cover the ugly, vinyl-looking paper.

Once, our dishwasher exploded water all over the kitchen and when the maintenance people finally came, they said nothing was wrong with it. That winter, the entire building?s power went out and was out for around 4 days. Yes. The power. An essential. We had to move all the food out of the fridge and camp at a friend?s place until the power came back on. Any attempts to find out when it might be working again were met with either hostility or complete ignorance. Our heat went out once, in the middle of winter, and the maintenance people didn?t come until 10 PM the next night. The on-site management was always aweful, no matter who it was. During the power outtage I spoke of, there were dried, raw eggs on the management office door - a good indication of the tenant sentiment. As for Marquis Management - they are demons. I lived at Camino Real before University Gardens, another Marquis property (I really didn?t want to...) and everyone I came in to contact with at the office was either extremely rude and condescending, or tried to get money out of me for random things. Stay away from all Marquis Management properties. They are totally unprofessional and evil.
