I'm finally rid of this urine-soaked hell-hole!

There's a reason why this complex currently ranks as the second-most reviewed apartment complex in the entire city of Austin: it is a hell-hole. I'm pretty sure that it was filthy and disgusting when it was brand new.

The Riverside, Oltorf, and Burton Drive areas south of the river do not attract the cream of the crop of society. Indeed, University Heights falls smack dab in the middle of Southeast Ausin, riddled with crime.

For starters, the management has a perpetual turn-over; the managers changed on a month-to-month basis. I'd assume that they became fed up with the tennants as well as the area. It's had to manage a property that's rife with uncaring and shaddy citizens. Granted, the current manager recognizes the problems with University Heights and is vocal about them, but there is so much to correct. It is an up-hill battle to correct the living conditions of the property.

University Heights is split into two properties, one on each side of Burton Drive. The 2000 address has a laundry facillity that works half of the time and a closed swimming pool that is filled with rain water that often resembles sewage.

Both sides are equally unsafe. I would not recommend this as a place to live for single white females; I would recommend the opposite. The property has what are called "access gates," which were never closed during the entire length of my lease. I'm pretty sure they're broken and that they'll stay that way for the rest of eternity. Cars are broken into almost nightly on-site. The favorite of local theives is to break in through the small, back corner window, reach in, and unlock the doors. They also like to take their time and go through the trunk. I'm pretty sure whomever robbed me was either very close in the area or, more likely, one of my neighbors. Let me put it this way: if you have a car that is less than five years old, it will be broken into very soon; if you have a car, it will be broken into.

Most of the residents are --------, most of whom do not speak a word of english. These same residents also enjoy sitting out in their beat-up trucks, drinking Buds which they discard in the bushes, listening to umpa-umpa bass-driven music through large speakers planeted either in the bed of their truck or on the ground, which reverbarates throughout the complex. They play their music at any time of day, any time of the week. Additionally, -------- will never park their car and go to the door of the person they've come to pick up; they will only honk, and honk endlessly...at 4am.

In conclusion: I hated my time at University Heights; there was nothing redeeming from my time spent at this apartment. My car was broken into, I was robbed, I felt unsafe at all times of the day, I worried about break-ins to my apartment, it took forever to have maintenace fix something, the grounds were filthy, the pool was disgusting, and the neighborhood is not to be trusted.

My tips on apartment hunting: this site (www.aptratings.com), walk the grounds before signing, pay attention to the types of cars in the parking lot in the evening when everyone is home from work (new' old' pieces of junk'), and check out the Austin Police Departments web page for crime records at http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/default.htm
