would not live here again

When I moved into this apartment complex, I was told that it was under new management and was undergoing repairs. During the entire time I have lived here, I have not seen any significant repairs anywhere. My apartment was filthy when I moved in - there were dead roaches in cabinets, hair, and dog food on top of the refrigerator. My bathtub was disgusting and un-usable, and when I complained I was told that it would be repaired soon. However, after three weeks of complaining (and being forced to shower at a friend's place) and several maintenance reports filed by me, it was finally taken care of. Other repairs requested by me were never completed.

There were tons of roaches when I moved in -I counted over 30 that I killed in one hour. However, after asking that my apartment be sprayed this problem (thankfully) went away. The pool right outside my apartment was filled with dirty green water and algae, and though I was told it was being worked on, it remained that way until a friend of mine called the city health department and complained. They came out to look at it and said that it was unsanitary and filled with insect larvae. The complex finally cleaned it out after ordered to do so by the health department. There were always roaches and many ants outside my apartment.

There was trash everywhere in the complex, and the laundry facility was disgustingly dirty. Less than a third of the dryers worked, and the washers always had old soap and stuff in them. My mailbox didn't lock, so anyone could have stolen my mail. Most of the people I have seen who live here are pretty low-class - I do not mean poor but low-class! I once witnessed a man peeing in the parking lot of the complex in broad daylight right in front of myself and my friend. Also, my next door neighbors played loud music all-day, every day and smoked so much pot that you could smell it standing outside their door. They also had two pit bulls and would walk them outside, leaving their feces in the grass outside my apartment.

Though I never felt unsafe here (the off-duty security guard lived right by me) I would not recommend this place to anyone. The buildings are extremely old and the foundation has settled so much that the floor in my apartment was slanted (you walked uphill when you came in the front door). The foundation in the building next to mine settled so badly that it became unsafe to live there and it was evacuated. The low price is this complex's only good feature. In addition, when visiting this complex, don't be fooled by the nice office, computer lab, gym, or pool (near the office)...that one small area of the complex is the only nice part. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT live here!!!
