Most of The Negative Comments are True

I myself have lived here for a year, but my roomates have been here for 3 years and I know people who lived here before that, so I have mroe than 4 years of experience to draw from. By and large, the negative comments are not eggagerated, especially from the past year I've actually lived here.

Security gates are a joke and my access card never even worked on them despite multiple promises that they'd magically start working "in about a week." I wouldn't blame the non-working gates on students when I've personally witnessed maintenance staff physically lift them off their track in order to gain entrance (instad of going through the walk-in gate right next to it).

Weather drainage is horrible. Moss and lichen grows on the sidewalks and parking lots year round near my unit and the mail/laundry room on my side as water is constantly trickling to the street (I don't know from where, maybe the pool that is rarely open'). I have to walk carefully or face slipping and falling on my butt. When it rains, mud cakes up sidewalks. None of this is ever actively cleaned my management. My block of units doesn't even have a rain gutter so when it's raining you get roof drainage that falls directly in the middle of the stairs and walkways.

My bathtub has cracks in it and my toilet is rusting at the bottom and rocks back and forth. Not fixed yet. My roomates ceiling fan got fixed though--two months after a request was put in.

Your car is not safe here. I can recall 4 thefts from cars of people I know in less than a second. My car sustained minor damage to the bumper--when the bumper was facing the walkway and not out into the parking lot. Near my unit, people gather in the parking lot to hang out and urinate near/on cars (they may belong to them, for all I know). People also sleep in their cars.

I've never felt my person to be in danger here. The same people who pee on/live in their cars are never threatening. I've had polite relations with everyone I've known here. Reports that females shouldn't wander around alone are eggaterated in my opinion.

The electrical outlets in the unit I stayed in were by and large loose and unreliable. You'd plug something in and it wouldn't work because contact was poor.

We had our share of pests, but nothing horrible like an ant invasion, and I'd rate the overall pest level as normal. We only saw one rat (which was huge) running in the unit but trapped a very small number over a 3 year period. To be expected based on even nice apartments that I've lived in.

People's positive comments sound like attempts to spin the negative, not genuine opinions (note lack of long, drawn out, specific examples.) I would agree that while management overall is a problem, many staff in the leasing office at least try to lull you with a positive and polite attitude. I never had problems picking up packages from the office. Staff remembered me by name and seemed happy to see me. Lease signing/renewal was a good experience.
